Logos and Branding

1. I started out with brainstorming and sketching out my logo, the beginning design looked way different from my final one. I decided to do a Virtual Headset, and added small details such as the ears on top and an eye on the visor(could also be the initial of the logo name). I felt like this wasn’t enough so put a jagged streak behind it, it kind of looks like a spirit. There are ears on top of the streak, it’s hard to see but I think it’s a good little touch to it. The font for the letters was a free to use font, it looked futuristic and matched the vibe of the logo design. For the name I came up with Alvagaming, the first two syllables of my last name. The motto, which is “Be the gaming Alpha” matches with the logo. Alpha rhymes with Alva, and the spirit on the back is more of a wolf. What I mean by Alpha is the best, top tier, supremacy. When creating other parts of my logo such as cutlining, I used Cmd+y to see my line tracing. Using alt/option to duplicate layers helped a lot.

2. Cutline is a line for shapes and designs to tell you or a machine where to cut. It is important to add when making t-shirt designs, stickers, etc. so you know where to cut and to make sure there is a border so you won’t cut your logo.

3. Branding is a way a company, organization, or individual is perceived by those who experience it. It can be a name, term, design, or symbol. You can use it to market yourself when looking for a job so they can tell apart from who you are and can tell how you are unique from other people. It can also tell your personal aesthetic, and what you want to go for.

4. Based on the learning target, “Create a brand identity wish a logo by defining a personal aesthetic and then developing, proposing, and refining artistic ideas, plans, prototypes, and production processes such as business cards, a resume, coordinating website, stickers and textiles using Adobe Illustrator and successfully exporting various file types.” The level of mastery my project demonstrates “Exceeds”. I think this because I have gone above and beyond the design such as the brush mark on the back, and how it is relevant to the logo and motto. Another thing is the font for the logo name and motto, it matches the topic of the logo as it is a futuristic gaming company (fake). The eye on the visor could also be the letter “A” which is the Initial for the logo name. Which is a little bit hidden but when you pay attention to the logo you can see it. I am satisfied with the way my logo is, and I like looking at it. It is pleasing to me.
