How I created " What's in a name?"
1. To create this image-in-text, I started by first researching what photos to add to it. I decided to go with my own photos. There were a lot of photos in my digital folders to choose from but chose the ones that matched my theme: Nature and city life. When I chose my 15 photos, I made sure that 3 of them were appropriate to turn into pop-outs. Thus making the illusion of my pictures coming out of the letters. Using the clipping mask feature, each photo includes a clipping mask, making the photos merge into the letters. Using the magic wand tool, I selected the background of the pop-out photos and masked them using layer masks to cover them. Using the brush tool to cover any imperfections from using the magic want tool really helped and made it "clean". I also added a drop shadow effect which creates a 3D effect on the letters, the blend mode being used is "Color Burn".

2. Clipping masks is a photoshop feature to add photos in a certain shape or letter(s). It is very different from using the eraser tool, clipping masks give you the freedom to still adjust, rotate, edit, and even create popouts of the photo in the letter(s) or shape(s) while erasing permanently erases the part you have pressed on and can no longer edit or adjust it. I will use the clipping mask feature in the future to create more projects in photoshop for titles, topics, and many more.

3. The whole project was a success! I really enjoy looking at the pop-outs in this project. I enjoyed using my own photos instead of clipart or someone else's work, the photos in my name show how much I have improved on photography. That doesn't mean that I can't learn any more about it though, I'm always happy for new lessons or lectures on elements of photography. What was unsuccessful was the third letter "A", it was hard trying to find the right angle and rotation for both of the images to be presentable. I would like to make my font a little bigger next time to make it more presentable and clean.

4. Based on the learning target, " Create a multimedia collage of personal interests, identity, and culture in photoshop that demonstrates knowledge of media and technology skills by utilizing clipping masks and layer masks. " The level of mastery my project demonstrates "Exceeds". I think this because from the self-taken photos to the pop-outs, they are detailed, clean, and tells the story of my life and my love for photography. I'm always out being one with nature and want to show everyone my life through photos. Each photo has a story to it.
